John Berglund joined San Bruno Rotary in 1969. He had been a Rotarian in Conroe, Tx while teaching High School Music. His father had also been a Rotarian.
John became our President in 1974. He continue active after his year as President by attending two International Conventions, one in New Orleans and the other in San Francisco. With his flare for music and considering that he was in charge of the welcoming committees, no visitor escaped the hearty welcome, with the true San Francisco style Dixie Land bands.
Through the years John's attendance has been outstanding, he often attends District Conferences and Assemblies. This is remarkable considering how much traveling John has done overseas, but it can also be said that it was a real high light in his Rotary Career to go "making up" through out Europe, Bahamas, Hawaii, Canada and Mexico.
Our club "put up" John for District Governor in 1981

I think I can say one of my most embarrassing moments my fellow club members have put me through, was my debunking. I was the youngest member ever to be President, they dressed me up (or down) in an adult diaper and infant gear.

I joined the San Bruno Rotary Club on July 10, 1987. That was a big day for the Rotary Club of San Bruno as it was the first time women were admitted to the previous all-male Club. My sponsors were Ed Simon and Frank Hedley.
I value the professional alliances and personal friendships I have made in the past thirteen years through Rotary. Some of my best memories are of the early auctions when we didn't really know what we were doing and some classic moments at President Balls, which include participating in some great debunkings, including those of Ed Simon, Mark Doiron, Wayne Parker and Larry Franzella.
I look forward to many more years of association with our club.

As the membership chair my goal for the year 2000 is to see our membership grow by a minimum of 20% each year for the next 3 years. Under the direction of President Bob and President elect Donna, we will be launching a plan to introduce people to Rotary. A friend raising campaign to boast the club's membership, in doing so we will increase the abilities to do projects that impact the community in a positive way. The more active membership we have the more impact we can create.

Jesson, Nigel
Member since March 1997. Sponsored by George Robinson.
I have always found pleasure in being part of a team, I think it started when I was back home in England. One day, when I was about 11 years old one of my friends belonged to "The Boys Brigade". I joined and was a member until I was 17 years old, I found a purpose in sharing common goals with my new friends and became more involved in the community.
During my employ at the Leicestershire Health Authority, once again I found myself getting involved, I became a Principal Member of Social Club. I arranged a few fun things like "Treasure Hunts" but the biggest buzz I got was doing a "Sponsored Bed Push" which raised money for local hospice. I found it was a way for me to give back to the community.
One day I was sharing this with a client of mine, he also is a Rotarian. I did not know what Rotary was, but I pleased to be part of this wonderful organization now.
I believe in success in life, I am blessed with my wife Andrea and my daughter Hannah.

I'm one of the newest members to join the San Bruno Rotary Club, I joined in July 1999. I was a Rotarian "wanna be" in San Francisco. I used to tag along with my boss ( Fiore Garbardo, Past President of Fisherman's Wharf Rotary Club) to all of his activities and enjoyed the camaraderie. I currently resident in South San Francisco with my family. Member on the Board of Directors for San Bruno Chamber of Commerce.
General Manager, San Bruno Garbage Company
I began my career working as a garbage collector in 1979. After working in all facets of the operation, I became a supervisor in 1994. In 1995 , I was promoted to District Manager. In that capacity, my responsibilities included directing the day to day operations for the refuse and recycling service in the Financial District, China Town, North Beach, Fisherman's Wharf and the Marina District. I have participated and was a member of many community and merchant organizations during my tenure in San Francisco.
My goal for the year 2000 is to play an important part in one of the major projects our club organizes ever year to raise funds for the club, "The Auction".
